The HJS SMF-AR (Sintered Metal Filter with Active Regeneration) has been specifically developed to suit ‘under 3.5 tonne’ applications for phase 3 of the London Low Emission Zone. This involves vehicles such as Vans, Motorhomes, Land Rovers, Pickups, etc.

For vehicles under 3.5t gvw, a fuel borne catalyst is required to aid regeneration, as London duty cycles coupled with lighter vehicles will result in low exhaust temperatures. As this is not a good environment for filters to regenerate effectively, additional aids are required to boost filter performance and reduce the chance of premature blocking.

The fuel borne catalyst together with integral heater coils will ensure that successful filter regeneration can take place in all driving condition, even during ‘stop-start’ cycles which are especially typical in London.

Should the filter require routine cleaning at any stage, the on-board warning light will advise the driver. Filter cleaning is carried out using a pressure washer in accordance with HJS safety guidelines.
